Dayton Parts has acquired RMW Industries, a manufacturer of wound coil spring technology. According to Paul Anderson, president and CEO of Dayton Parts, prior to the acquisition, Dayton focused on leaf springs.

He said the acquisition enhances the company’s undercarriage capabilities by combining its complete portfolio of light-, medium- and heavy-duty suspension components with RMW’s 40 years of custom coil spring design and manufacturing expertise to deliver a comprehensive, single-source suspension solution.

Leveraging the technology and expertise of RMW, Dayton Parts is launching Cargomaxx HD, a line of heavy-duty coil springs. They are designed to provide increased load handling capability and improved ride quality, Anderson said. They are suited to use as upgrades for vehicles that operate in continuous heavy-hauling applications. Utility vehicles, snowplows and parcel vans are some applications in which the new coil springs make sense, he adds.

“Our goal was to create an upgrade option for fleets and vehicle operators looking to improve hauling capability and increase productivity while maintaining a smooth ride for the driver and passengers,” said Walt Sherbourne, VP of marketing for Dayton Parts.

He added that the new line is “the most comprehensive heavy-duty coil spring offering from a single source, with 50 part numbers covering everything from older vehicles through to current models.

The new product line will be sold through Dayton Parts’ existing distribution network.
